Information Blocking Claims: By the Numbers

28 February 2022

The 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act), signed into law by President Obama in 2016, directed ONC to implement a standardized process for the public to report claims of possible information blocking. The information blocking claims reporting process welcomes claims of possible information blocking from anyone who believes they may have experienced or observed information blocking. APIs can be used for several things, including the ability to for software applications to share information. From the example above, Application A could request information from Application B or ask Application B to place a pushpin on a map at a specific longitude and latitude.

ONC is FHIR’d up: Unwrapping the new Inferno Testing Suite

2 October 2018

In a blog post from earlier this week, we discussed the growing use of the Health Level 7 (HL7®) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) standard. FHIR is just one tool in the toolbox helping improve the interoperability of health information, a goal of the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act).
We are excited to see the growing use of this standard – and the expectation that the U.S. is poised to catch FHIR in 2019.
