We Feel Fine

We Feel Fine is a project to harvest human feelings from a large number of web logs. Every few minutes, the system searches the world's newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases "I feel" and "I am feeling." The system records the feeling expressed (e.g., sad, happy, depressed, etc.) as well as age, gender, and location of the person. The project stores about 20,000 new feelings per day. The site makes the data available using a self-organizing particle system, organized in six formal movements: Madness, Murmurs, Montage, Mobs, Metrics, and Mounds.
